Ambulances for Humanitarian Demining Teams – Autumn 2023
Due to the war, Ukraine has become the most mined country in the world. One third of the territory, or 174,000 km², is contaminated with mines and other explosive devices. Mine clearance is an absolute emergency and a prerequisite for the reconstruction of the country. The World Bank estimates that the full mine clearance program will require more than $37 billion. However, Ukraine cannot meet such a challenge without the help of international partners.
In response to the request of the Emergency Situations Service of Ukraine (ESS), AMCFU launched an aid project last spring. This project aims to provide 4×4 ambulances for the medical transport of demining teams operating in the liberated territories.
To date, 9 4×4 ambulances have been acquired, and we have just obtained funding of €115,000 from the Alstom company for 2 additional ambulances. This initiative is part of a holistic approach, complementing our commitment with assistance in medical training dedicated to demining teams.
