Dental Sector Aid Campaign – December 2022
In addition to the many injuries and traumas, the war insidiously undermines the health of populations exposed to deprivation and the dysfunction of all essential services. Dental health problems have gradually become a real scourge in Ukraine, especially in areas close to the fighting. Indeed, against a backdrop of war and stress, many people have lost their bearings, have stopped doing everyday things like brushing their teeth regularly.
In addition, most have an unbalanced diet, which causes problems with gum inflammation and cavities. Stress also considerably increases the number of cases of bruxism, involuntary contraction of the jaws that leads to significant wear of the teeth with joint pain. Finally, the lack of access to care and the elimination of non-urgent care due to the closure of dental practices, a large number of moves to flee combat zones and an increase in care costs due to the impoverishment of the population are rapidly worsening the situation.
To address this problem, AMC France-Ukraine is launching a campaign to help the populations concerned. The first operation carried out for this purpose consisted of delivering more than 270,000 tubes of fluoride toothpaste, provided by Piex Group and the Tulipe association. The Kharkiv region is one of the priority beneficiaries of this campaign.
