On April 15, 2024, a humanitarian convoy from the association Aide Médicale et Caritative France-Ukraine arrived in Ukraine, bringing medical furniture, supplies, and equipment to the hospitals in Kharkiv.
Kharkiv’s proximity to the Russian border exposes the city to almost daily missile attacks, with several hospitals being targeted. Despite this, as of February 1, 2024, Kharkiv had become a refuge for 194,000 internally displaced persons. More than half of them come from the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. Among the displaced persons living in Kharkiv are over 10,000 people with disabilities, more than 27,000 children, and more than 49,000 elderly people.
To support Kharkiv’s medical sector and enable residents to access vital medical care, the French region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté granted 50,000 euros to fund the purchase of medical equipment for hospitals No. 2, No. 30, and No. 31. These hospitals received a laparoscopic device, a mobile surgical lamp, an operating table, and a patient monitor provided by suppliers from or based in France.
We thank the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region and are extremely grateful to all the elected officials who voted for this project, which will allow Ukrainian civilians to receive medical care.
